Monkeys are playful, curious and a little bit silly, which makes them one of the most fun animals to color. This free monkey coloring page can be colored online with a tap or printed for crayons, markers and pencils. It works on phones, tablets and computers, and it’s free to use.
The monkey has a round head, big ears, a heart-shaped face and a long curly tail. There are four levels. Ages 2–3 get a simple monkey with large shapes that are easy to fill. Ages 5–6 add hands, inner ears, a muzzle and a belly. Ages 7–10 get a juicy banana on the side, plus eyes and eyebrows, which gives the monkey more personality. Ages 11 and up get the most detailed version, with a heart on the belly, banana details, cheeks and leafy jungle branches around the picture.
Kids can choose brown, tan and cream for a natural monkey or go wild with bright colors. The banana is a fun place to practice yellow, green and brown shading.
Monkeys are good for learning, too. A group of monkeys is called a troop. Many monkeys live in trees and use their hands and feet to climb and swing. Some monkeys from the Americas can even grip branches with their tails, while monkeys from Africa and Asia use theirs mostly for balance. Monkeys are different from apes, because apes such as gorillas and chimpanzees have no tail. Kids can talk about these facts while they color.
Coloring supports fine motor skills, color recognition and imagination. It is a calm activity for home, school, a rainy afternoon or a jungle-themed party. Choose an age level, pick your favorite colors and give the monkey a banana-yellow snack.
