Horses are some of the most loved animals in the world, and this free horse coloring page lets kids bring one to life with their own colors. Tap any part of the horse to fill it on screen, or print the page and use crayons, markers or colored pencils. It works on tablets, phones and computers.
Every child is different, so the horse comes in four difficulty levels. Ages 2–3 get a big, simple horse with a few large areas, which is easy for small hands to color. Ages 5–6 add hooves, a white blaze on the face, an inner ear and a tail tuft. Ages 7–10 get a saddle, a blanket with a star, and socks on the legs, so there are more details to choose colors for. Ages 11 and up get the most detailed version, with a decorated blanket, a saddle horn, a sun, grass and a little flower on the ground.
Coloring a horse is a nice way to learn about the animal. A baby horse is called a foal. Horses can sleep standing up, and they use their ears to show how they feel. Ears pointing forward usually mean a horse is curious, while ears pinned back can mean it is upset. Horses come in many coat colors, such as brown, black, white, gray and golden, so kids can pick realistic colors or make up a rainbow horse.
Coloring also helps children practice fine motor skills, hand control and color choice. Younger kids can talk about the parts of the horse, such as the mane, tail and hooves. Older kids can try shading the mane with two or three colors or design their own blanket pattern.
Parents and teachers can use this page for quiet time, a farm or animal lesson, a rainy-day activity or a birthday party table. It is free to use and needs no sign-up. Pick the age level, choose your colors and start coloring your horse.
