The lion is called the king of the jungle, and this free lion coloring page gives kids a chance to color a royal one. Click or tap each part to fill it with color on screen, or print the page for crayons and markers. It works on any device and needs no sign-up.
The lion has a big scalloped mane that makes a great area to color. Kids can use warm golds and browns for a realistic look or try orange, red, purple and blue for a fantasy lion. The page comes in four levels so every age has the right challenge. Ages 2–3 get a bold, simple lion with a mane, face, body and paws. Ages 5–6 add ears, cheeks, a belly and a tail tuft. Ages 7–10 get a second inner mane ring, a forehead diamond and eyes, which gives two layers of mane to color. Ages 11 and up get the most detailed lion, wearing a jeweled crown, with stars and grass in the background.
Lions are a great topic for learning. Only male lions have manes, and lions are the only big cats that live in groups, called prides. A pride is mostly made up of females and their cubs. Lions sleep for many hours a day, often 16 hours or more, and a lion’s roar can be heard from several kilometers away. Kids can learn these facts while they color.
Coloring helps children build hand strength, focus and creativity. Little ones can practice staying inside the lines on big shapes, while older kids can add patterns, shading and their own backgrounds.
Use this lion page for a zoo or safari theme, a classroom activity, a quiet moment at home or a jungle-themed party. Choose the age level, pick your colors and give your lion a mane to be proud of.
